SoBo Silverball Collective
Club rules
Version 1 · Published Oct 9, 2026
1. Sign the waiver first. Every person signs the Waiver, Release, and Indemnity Agreement before their first visit. No signed waiver, no entry.
2. Check in every visit. Members check in at the door, and every guest is logged by name.
3. Members stay with their guests. A guest is never left alone in the space.
4. Respect the occupancy limit. No more than 14 people are in the space at one time. Do not block stairs, exits, or walkways.
5. Treat the machines with care. Normal pinball technique is fine, including nudging, slide saves, and slap saves with an open hand. No kicking, rocking, lifting, hitting, or forcing a machine, and no using tools on one without authorization.
6. Do not open, move, or repair any machine unless you are the machine's owner or have been authorized by the Collective. Unplug a machine before opening it.
7. No weapons.
8. Drinks stay off machines. Use a covered container and set it on a table or ledge, never on the glass or playfield.
9. No harassment, threats, intimidation, or violence. This includes slurs, unwanted contact, and following or pressuring other people.
10. Do not touch building systems. Leave the alarm, cameras, fire safety equipment, electrical panels, and power strips as you found them.
11. Report problems right away. Tell a member or the Collective's management about any injury, damage, spill, electrical issue, or safety hazard when it happens.
12. Clean up after yourself. Put trash in the bins, return tools to their place, and leave the space as you found it.
13. Ask before recording others. The space is under video and audio surveillance and may be live streamed (see the waiver). Do not film or post images of other people without their consent.
14. Follow instructions from management. If you are asked to stop an activity or leave, do so promptly.
15. Pay for damage. You are responsible for damage you or your guests cause.
16. Keys and alarm codes are personal (member rule). Do not share, copy, or lend them. Use them only during the established hours of the space, arm the alarm when you are the last one out, and report a lost key or compromised code immediately.
17. You are responsible for your guests (member rule). You bring them, supervise them, and answer for their conduct and any damage they cause.
18. Guest limit and fees (member rule). Each check-in may include up to 3 guests. A guest's first visit is free, tracked by the guest's name. After that, fees apply per guest visit: $5 when the host is a Founding Member and $10 when the host is a Regular Member.
19. Loaned machines stay your responsibility to maintain (member rule). Your machine must be fully working, or quickly repairable by you on site. Keep it in good working order at your own cost.
20. Pulling or swapping a loaned machine (member rule). You may pull a loaned machine with 30 days' written notice. You may swap it for another machine you own after a minimum of 3 months, unless the Collective agrees to an earlier swap.
21. No duplicate titles, and the Collective decides the lineup (member rule). Each title appears once on the floor. The Collective has final say on whether a machine is added.
22. Workshop use (member rule). Use the workshop area only for pinball repair and restoration. Work on no more than two machines at a time, unplug machines before opening them, keep tools and parts in the workshop area, and clean up when you finish.
23. Keep membership confidential (member rule). Do not offer, solicit, or advertise membership, and do not tell guests that membership is available. Direct any inquiries to management and say the Collective is not accepting applications at this time.
24. Participate constructively (member rule). Members are expected to take part in the Collective, give input when asked, and treat other members and guests respectfully.
25. Access and treatment. No one will be refused entry, removed, or treated differently because of a protected characteristic.
26. Membership decisions. Invitations to join and decisions about membership are based on written, neutral criteria, such as machine condition and reliability, participation, and conduct, and never on a protected characteristic.
27. Events open to the public. Tournaments and other events open to the public are open to all on equal terms, subject to the House Rules.
28. Accessibility. The space is in a 1900 building with a basement, so some features may limit access. Anyone who needs an accommodation can contact management, and the Collective will make reasonable efforts to provide one where it is feasible.
29. No harassment. Harassment, slurs, or demeaning conduct based on a protected characteristic is a violation of these rules whether it is aimed at a member, guest, or staff.
30. Reporting. Report any concern to management at [email protected] Reports are taken seriously, handled as discreetly as possible, and no one will be retaliated against for making one in good faith.
31. The Collective may give a warning, require a person to leave, suspend or revoke access or membership, and bar a person from returning, with or without a prior warning, depending on the seriousness of the conduct. Membership fees are not refunded after removal. The Collective may update these rules at any time by posting or sending the updated version, and continued use of the space means you accept the update.
